A total of 46 short courses, 41 exhibitions, 7 summer nights, 5 routes and itineraries, 4 spectacles and 6 courses integrate, "L'Estiu als Museus" (summer in museums) of this year 2001. It takes place in the museums of Barcelona from June to September. It's made to promote and learn about the museums of the city of a different and festive form.

To know and to visit Barcelona's museums will be attractive and one more activity to do this summer. Short courses for all the ages, nights in summer to discover museums in nocturnal hours, different routes, dinners and spectacles form this attractive proposal that the last year had an important welcome. The activities for this summer 2001 take place in a total of 30 museums of the city doubling the number of the museums that participated with respect to last year.

Shortcourses is one of the offers, for everyone, groups or individually where it's possible to do different activities that will help us to know the purpose of the museums. We can make tools and realize cave paintings in the Archaeology's museum, or make chocolate in the Chocolate's museum, We can also navigate on a ship built in 1918 and discover the secrets of the sea in the Maritime museum or write in hieroglyphic in the Egyptian museum.

One of the most original activities to do in summer nights are the "Nits d'Estiu", guided visits to the museums in night schedule. Some museums open their doors at night to be able to visit their collections at less warm hours. There are "Nits d'Estiu" in the National Museum of Catalan Art (MNAC), the Barbier-Mueller of Pre-Columbian Art museum, the Center of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB), the Miro Foundation, the Wax Museum, museum of Catalunya's History and in the museum of History of the City of Barcelona. The visit at the Wax Museum offers a spectacle with actors, lights and sound effects. There are "Nits d'Estiu" that are guided visits, but also there are some with spectacles. This visits finish tastefully: dinner, glass of cava, coca or cremat. For groups there are special prices and alternative spectacles.
Finally, it's necessary to stand out some routes - to the Roman Barcelona, to the Gothic Barcelona, to the Barcelona of the Áustrias ...-and the exhibitions of long duration that continue open during summer.
