This avenue is dedicated to the memory of Lluís Companys, President of the Generalitat de Catalunya between 1933 and 1939, who was executed by the Franco regime in the trenches of Montjuïc castle.

There are grassed areas, palm trees and modernist street lamps along this avenue. At the end of the avenue, next to the Parc de la Ciutadella, is the monolith to Francesc Rius i Taulet, mayor of Barcelona and promoter of the 1888 Fair, designed by Pere Falqués and Manuel Fluxà (1901).

Other sculptures at the end of Passeig de Lluís Companys are the statue dedicated to Roger de Llúria, the well-known Catalan navigator, which was sculpted by Josep Reynès in 1885, and the statue in memory of Antoni Viladomat (an 18th century Catalan painter), by Torquat Tasso.

To the left of the Arc de Triomf the architectural monuments included in the 1888 fair are preserved. These are the Pere Vila school, designed by Josep Goday and the Palacio de Justicia (courthouse), by Enric Sagnier and Domènec i Estapà .
