Good location, felt safe, was clean. staff helpful. Competitive price. Rooms very small. No natural light. Air conditioning good but difficult to get low enough to sleep comfortable.
Would be good to have a fridge and hot water for tea/coffe available. There is a coffee machine but Irish people like their own tea. |

Eran dos habitaciones, la cuadruple era como las fotos
muy bien, pero la normal estaba muy mal no tenia nada que ver con las fotos, pequeñisima, la ducha super pequeña cerrada daba a un patio de luces, con barrotes, demencial, en esta estubieron mis padres, un desastre la otra repito correcta. |

Chambre spacieuse, belle terrasse... Mais: rigidité des horaires pour le petit déjeuner. Les garçons de l''hotel ne sont pas aimables ni conciliants.
Sur 3 petits déjeuners réservés : nous en avons finalement pris qu''un seul!Les 3 nous ont malgré tout , été facturé !
Pour l''un: l''heure du petit déjeuner était dépassée d''une heure:alors que la salle à manger était toujours ouverte mais que la serveuse n''était plus sur les lieux , le garçon de l''hotel n''a pas pu malgré tout, nous proposer ne serait ce un café ou un expresso ! En nous expliquant qu''il ne savait pas se servir de la machine expresso! Le petit déjeuner , nous a malgré tout été facturé! Aucune remise n''a été possible.
Pour le 3 è jour: un autre garçon d''hotel vu la veille au soir, alors que nous avions réservé un petit déjeuner , mais que l''arrivée de notre taxi (réservé la veille pour notre départ à l''aéroport) , coincidait tout juste avec l''heure d''ouverture de la salle à petit déjeuner(sans aucune possibilité de retarder son heure d''arrivée du fait de l''horaire trop précoce de notre avion), nous a malgré tout facturé le petit déjeuner ! " Aucune légère avancée possible de l''horaire du petit déjeuner non plus" selon lui "ni meme possibilité de proposer un café avant l''heure! ""ni meme possibilité de déduire le prix du petit déjeuner à la note"!.
Il n''y a donc eu aucun geste commercial.
Nous ne sommes pas prêts de revenir dans cet hôtel! C''est tout simplement une honte. Facturer des prestations qui n''ont pas été consommées : c''est du vol! |

Fine: 1. Location for metro. 2. Clean towels daily.
Could be better:
There seemed to be a shortage of hot water except for first thing in the morning.
Although I found the hostel to be noisy. The noise appeared to come from workings in the street below.
Street noise in general seems to be unavoidable when choosing a hotel in Barcelona. |

Buona posizione, metropolitana vicinissima e comnque si può raggiungere il centro con una breve camminata.

Entorno ruidoso y sucio. Paredes de papel. Nada recomendable a familias con niños. Esta bien si vas solo y no tienes vecinos escandalosos, aunque al ser un hostal de una estrella ya sabes lo que hay. |

Dear Imma,
We love your city and will return soon (or at least we hope so).
About the hostal:
-excellent breakfast (could be served in a 5* hotel as well)
-the service and the cleanness is according to price I believe (some extra service like free toothbrush with cream, air condition) – a good overall cleaning would raise a lot!
-no safe place to leave luggage (however nothing was lost)
-they were very kind, things were smooth
-an interesting but noisy part of Barcelona with very good access
-would have been a great help for us to receive some detailed instruction how to get there from the airport as at the airport there all source of tourist information were closed (Saturday evening 9 30), even we could not get a map of Barcelona. Finally a very kind local guy offered to phone the hostal for us, asked them how to get there and translated us the information. (I have not met before a city with a busy airport but without tourist/traffic information.)

Stanze piccine ma non male. Idem per il bagno, provvisto, oltre che di cambio asciugamani ogni gg, anche di minidentifricio con spazzolino. Non e' il top esteticamente ma..quando si va in vacanza, soprattutto i giovani, si sta poco e niente in stanza,no? C'e' anche l'aria condizionata e ci sono i termosifoni. La posizioni in confronto al centro e' ottima. La metro e' a circa 500 mt e muoversi con la metro credo sia la cosa migliore. Ma se vi dirgete verso il mare arrivate in una 20 di minuti nella zona del Maremagnum. E ancor meno verso La Rambla.
Sotto l'ostello ci sono diversi negozietti di alimentari e un paio di minimarket (che non sono forniti come i nostri italiani):meglio i negozietti alimentari. A destra dell'ostello c'e' una banca con bancomat(portate le carte di credito, con i bancomat potreste avere qualche problema,io cn PostePay non ne ho avuti). |

Ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo. Camere modeste ma pulite. Personale disponibilissimo e cortese. Quartiere di extracomunitari ma nessun problema a tornare in hotel anche a tarda notte. Posizione non centrale ma ottimamente collegata (metro a 500 mt). Lo consigliamo a chi non ha pretese nell'estetica. |

I've stayed in this hotel twice, both times in Jan. 2004,2005. I could highly reccomend this choice by two main reasons: good location (15 min. walk to La Rambla) and reasonable price. Rooms are clean and staff is friendly. The only disadvantage is the walls are so thin that you should bevare of noisy neighbours unless they are "just married" couple. |

wir waren 4 Nächte im Hostel Barcelona und müssen sagen, es war gut für den Preis. Das Zimmer war zwar nicht besonders groß, doch reichte es. Wir waren eh die meiste Zeit des Tages unterwegs. Jeden Tag wurde das Zimmer aufgeräumt, es gab Bettwäsche und frische Handtücher. Da Personal sprach spanisch, englisch und zum Teil deutsch, aber man verstand sich. Wir hatten da s Zimmer mit Frühstück gebucht, was sich als Glücksfall heraus stellte, da es sehr lecker war, es gab alles was man braucht, Säfte, Wasser, Kaffee, Espresso, Tee, Milch, Toast, Aufschnitt, Marmelade, Müsli, Donuts, Kuchen, Obst und und und. Satt wird man auf jedenfall. Wir haben für 4 Nächte pro Person 126€ bezahlt, was bei der Lage des Hostel, relativ nah zum Zentrum (15 Minuten bis zum Hafen/Ramblas und 4 Minuten zur Metro) ein super Preis für Barcelona war. Wir empfehlen daher das Hostal weiter! Wer bei bei Laustärke nicht schlafen kann, sollte sich entweder Ohrstöpsel mitnehmen oder ein Zimmer nicht zur Straße nehmen, da es dort sehr belebt ist, dennoch isolieren die Fenster sehr gut. Wir fanden es daher gut im Hostel Barcelona. (Carrer Rosal) |

Hostel Barcelona was a very nice place. It was very clean and everybody there was very friendly. The situation was excellent, because the metro station was so near and you could also easily walk to the centre.

The hostel is quite good, i spent a very nice time!!!It is clean, it has the lift, it's very near to the tube(L3 paral-lel,5 minutes to the Rambla), in a very strategic place for every itinerary. It is quite noise but i could sleep all night long!!!I don't recommend to spend euro 4.50 for the breakfast, there is a good bakery in the same street of Barcelona Hostel(on sunday it's closed!!)the area around the Hostel is not beautiful but it's safe for two girls alone like me and my friend...Have you good days in Barcelona!!!Nicole-Milano |

L'ostello non è male!!!Lo consiglio a chi non ha troppe pretese!!E' pulito, e questo non è da sottovalutare, ha l'ascensore(attenzione fino al quinto piano, i piani in realtà sono sette!!!), è vicinissimo alla metro(L3 paral-lel, a cinque minuti dalla Rambla) e comunque in un punto strategico per qualunque itinerario!E' vero è un po' rumoroso la notte, ma per chi, come me, non ha il sonno troppo leggero, dorme che è un piacere...sconsiglio di spendere 4.50 euro per la colazione, vicino c'è una ottima croissanteria, (stessa via e stesso lato dell'ostello in direzione metro, chiusa però la domenica). La zona non è delle migliori, esteticamente parlando, ma è sicura, eravamo due ragazze e non abbiamo avuto nessun problema...Solo per Giulia, se ho dimenticato qualcosa pensaci tu, amica...che dico amica!!sorella!!Nicole-Milano |

Wir (3 Erwachsene) hatten ein sehr sauberes 3-Bett-Zimmer mit Bad. Die Straße vor dem Haus kann lebhaft sein (allerdings nur Fußgängerzone!), andererseits hört man bei geschlossenem Fenster absolut nichts mehr. Das Personal an der Rezeption (24 Stunden besetzt) war ausgesprochen freundlich und das Frühstücksbuffet für 4,50 Euro reichlich und lecker . Die Lage des Hostals ist einfach perfekt, Ramblas und Innenstadt auf 10 Min. zu Fuß erreichbar, 2 U-Bahn-Linien direkt in der Nähe.

Hostal confortevole e pulito, il personale è disponibile. Sconsiglio vivamente la colazione pomposamente chiamata "continentale" troppo cara (4.50 euro a persona) e scadente, inoltre un caffè espresso lo fanno pagare ben 2 euro!| e la signora che gestisce la colazione si è mostrata molto scortese. Consiglio il bar vicino, "La churre" gestito da persone simpatiche e disponibili, che offrono degli ottimi churros e cornetti freschissimi.
Quartiere non dei migliori, ma nessuno ci ha mai importunate ( ero insieme ad un' amica). Complessivamente il rapporto costo/servizio è adeguato, per chi non vuole spendere troppo per il pernottamento. |

We had a very good stay in the hostel. The staff is nice, helpful and speak English, French, Italian and a little bit of German. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Good breakfast buffet for only 4.50 euros. i recommend the place. Good value for money. |

La posizione é ottimale peccato il quartiere sconsigliatissimo a sole ragazze.L'ultima notte (2 giorni fa) non abbiamo dormito per le urla di una pazza durate fino al mattino alle quali la receptionist é rimasta indifferente. Un peccato in quanto l'insieme della struttura, i servizi (ascensore ed aria condizionata) potrebbe promettere meglio.Consiglio il bar vicino dove gustare dei deliziosi "churros" per una vera colazione locale. |

The hostel was absolutely not ok, very loud beacause of the floor, noice of air conditioning in room 313. terrible noice even in the building coming from small interior courts. this part of town isn’t quiet in the night. All night long the neighbourhood were very loud in the streets and also Spanish people were loud in the early morning hours. Muy mala experiencia. Nos dieron una habitación en la esquina, en la segunda planta, y debajo se juntan jovenes a armar alboroto toda la noche y no pudimos dormir nada, al día siguiente explicamos la situacion y pedimos por favor, una habitacion interior más tranquila y refunfuñando y de mala gana, al final nos dieron otra pero nos cobraron 3 euros más por el simple cambio. Un abuso y muy poco amables en el trato. No lo recomiendo :-( |

We've spent three nights at the Barcelona hostal and I would definitely recommend this place to everyone who's looking for an affordable place to stay in Barcelona. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the hostel itself was very easy to find and reach but most importantly: the rooms were very clean. And they kept it that way during our stay. The location of the hostel is pretty good. Only 15 minutes on foot to the Ramblas, the harbour and Plaça Espanya. Breakfast buffet is very good too, you can eat all you want for only 4.50 euros. We left our valuables in their safe, it was free. My conclusion would have to be: this is a very good hostel, that I wouldn’t mind staying at again.

This is a well-situated, well-run, comfortable, clean and cheap hostel with friendly and accomodating staff. The en-suite facilities were excellent and the air conditioning proved very useful. Located near to a metro station and the number 24 bus route, which takes you to most of the tourist attractions. All in all a great hostel which was fantastic value for money and a good base for a holiday in the wonderful city of Barcelona.

Ottimo! Confortevole, pulito, con televisori e aria condizionata nelle camere. E' gestito da persone simpatiche e disponibili. E' a due passia piedi dalla Ramblas e da Mremagnum, ed è collegato perfettamente con la metro( fermata a pochi metri), bus e il trenino per Monjuic. 10 e lode!

The position of this hostal is really comfortable. You're few minutes from the metro (green and purple lines), so you're close to the city center.
The rooms are clean, with tv and bathroom.

Nous avons passé en famillle, deux adultes et 3 enfants de 12 à 16 ans , deux nuits , à l'hostal Barcelona en février 2004 . Nous l'avions reservé de préférence aux autres en lisant les commentaires des précédents visiteurs sur le site et nous n'avons pas été déçus . Nous étions dans deux chambres très propres avec nos propres toilettes et salles de bains et comme dans un hotel, les serviettes de toilettes étaient changées tous les jours et les lits faits. Si le mobilier n'est pas très joli, il est convenable et la literie est impeccable. Un avantage non négligeable: Le petit déjeuner servi en buffet jusqu'à 11 H était très bon et très frais avec....des croissants français et des jus de fruits à volonté. L'hostel est hyper bien situé, près de la station de métro et de l'avenue Para El où circulent taxis et bus et ,à pied, on est tout près de la vielle ville. Bref que des avantages, calme avec une équipe sympa et dévouée ( On peut même demander à changer de chambre si la vôtre ne vous plait pas) mais tout près de la fête si on veut la faire - Petit bar sympa, à côté - La Confiteria- Dernier hyper plus : Ce n'est vraiment pas cher pour les services offerts et...la qualité de la nuit que vous y passerez... El Hostal Barcelona, que me recomendaste estaba muy, pero muy bien. Muy limpio, las habitaciones, nque pequenias, pero suficientes, todo recien refaccionado, el banio, en fin, todo hecho con ceramicas nuevas, todo hermoso y muy limpio. Hemos pagado por separado todas las manianas el desayuno, y tambien nos ha dejado muy formes. Habia de todo, y al ser buffet, uno podia
servirse lo que queria, cuanto queria, sin itaciones.
Era muy abundante y todo muy fresco. Sin ser lujoso, pero muy variado abundante y libre de servirse lo que uno quiere. La ubicacion tambien era muy buena. Tan cerca del Metro y de la
Avenida Parallel y muchas lineas de buses.
Mi amiga y yo queremos agradecerte por la eleccion del hostal porque fue muy acertada. Era justo lo que queriamos! Pues bien, te escribo a ti, a Sandra, Oliver, todos tus companieros y vuestras respectivas familias, para enviarles mis mas sinceros augurios de felicidad para la Navidad y el Anio Nuevo. This hostal is great for exploring the city - 100mtrs from the Metro station at Paral-lel and next to the 24 bus route to Parc Guell. 10 minutes walk from La Rambla and the Harbour. The hostal is clean, well kept and great value. The lift is a great bonus. Bedrooms have heating and aircon - toilets and bathrooms are very clean I would recommend Hostel Barcelona to everyone

We had a great time in Barcelona and Barcelona Hostal. The price/ quality is very good. The toilets and badrooms were clean and we they made up the beds and we received clean towels every day. The hostel is about 5 minutes walking from the metro and about 10 minutes from the ramblas. You can also have a good breakfast buffet for only 4 euro.. So if we go to Barcelona we will problably choose Hostal Barcelona again.

Good hostel for the price you pay: simple but clean and not too far from the City center. Staff is very helpful and friendly (except for the woman who checked us in upon arrival). I certainly want to go back to Barcelona and in that case will probably consider to choose this hostel again. Ingrid |

I spent 5 nights in barcelona hostal /13/5-18/5) with my friend. I had 1 single room and he 1 twin room. The rooms wwas GREAT! they was beautiful, clean and fresh! We had private bathrooms and the bathroom was very good too. Everything was comfortable and very nice in the hostal!and the price was good for this good service! (aircondition and TV was in the rooms too) |

We've spent three nights at the Barcelona hostal and I would definitely recommend this place to everyone who's looking for an affordable place to stay in Barcelona. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the hostel itself was very easy to find and reach but most importantly: the rooms were very clean. And they kept it that way during our stay. The location of the hostel is pretty good. Only 15 minutes on foot to the Ramblas and although I never felt unsafe walking to the hostel late at night, I probably wouldn’t let my girlfriend pass through that neighbourhood alone. Luckily you can easily avoid the walk by taking a taxi or just use the subway for two stops. My conclusion would have to be: this is a very good hostel, that I wouldn’t mind staying at again. |

4-bed family room is excellent value. Spotless with fresh towels & room cleaned daily. Friendly helpful receptionists (family business). 24 hour manned reception with free use of safes behind reception desk. Breakfast available at extra charge. Poble Sec area is inauspicious but feels safe,residential & bustling. Carrer Nou de la Rambla is a safe,well-lit passage on foot through the Raval past police station & several shops. Try Lassani Bar-Restaurante at no.22 for excellent Pakistani/Indian food at unbelievable prices! |

El hostal esta muy bien,ahora lo han reformado y lo han dejado bastante bonito,aunque bueno me da la impresion de que todavia les queda algun detalle que terminar.La zona no es la mejor de barcelona,pero estando a 2 minutos de la boca de metro tampoco puedes tener muchos problemas.Lo peor sin duda,aunque es algo comun a muchos hostales,es oir a los vecino del piso de arriba,d abajo,d al lado y a todo aquel que levante la voz mas de un susurro en el pasillo.Desde luego los de arriba pasaron una noche de ensueño por lo que pude oir :).En definitiva,por 45 euros la doble,no esta mal,aunque yo cobraria 40.Por cierto,aqui pone que es de dos estrellas pero solo vi una en el cartel de la entrada. |

The hostal was recommended by barcelona - on - line, so we booked it. Well, the hostal is not in a very good area, but I didn't feel unsafe. The door to the bathroom in our room was broken. The hostal was clean and staff was almost friendly. The metro station is not far away so that you can get fast to any point in the city.The hostal is o.k., nothing more. |

was very good for money. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, the staff nice and helpful.All rooms have TV and most of then bathroom inside. Very well located near underground and buses. 15 minutes walking from Ramblas, the port and Plaza España. |

It's a nice hostel even if the rooms are more or less clean and that the street is a bit noisy. You have a tv, the beds are confortable and you have your own bathroom. The staff is helpful and you'll find someone you speak english.

I stayed here in August and as far as I can tell you I was pleased. The room was not that big but it depends which room you'll get, some are bigger then others. My room was also clean and it was spotless. This place is located about 15 min walk from the Rambla and I don't think that the area was bad at all. I got good service from the staff, from all of them.
I can't tell you if the place is overpriced. It's true that noise goes through the walls easily, but I quess that's the same thing in all building in Spain. |

We stayed here in 2000 and found the fan in the cupboard. Our room was immaculate, quiet and comfortable. Very good value for money. Cheap taxi ride from las ramblas - about two pound. Clean, cheap and cheerful - what more could you want? |

Giuseppe from Milan Italy.The hostal was recommended by Barcelona-on-line;it's clean enough, it's close to metro, bus and rambla, isn't expensive but they can do more for that price, the area isn't nice.The rooms, the bathrooms are small and the bed too.The building is like a diapason,if a noise is made at the ground floor it can be eared in every floors,guests are not so careful,the walls are more than thin,a woman of the staff is absolutly not friendly while another one (younger) is kind and helpful.I think this hostal it's not so bad, but Barcelona-on-line overvalues it. |

This hostale was recommended to me by Barcelona-on-line. Rooms small; clean. Shower was great, though. Street-facing rooms noisy . Hotel staff very friendly.
The area isn't particularly nice (it's like staying in King's Cross, London) but it is very close to the Paral-lel metro and lots of bus routes. |

Comment: The hostel/hotel is just what it says it is -clean friendly, welcoming and about 15 minutes walk from La Rambla. It is at the foot of Mont Juic and is very close to a metro station. You can hear noises in the corridor but this didn't bother us too much. The air conditioning was wonderful. I would stay there again.
For me the best thing has to be that this hostal is just up the street from a tapas bar called Bodega Rosal which is a traditional family run place with wonderful service and food to die for .Owned by Pepe and Marie - make sure that if you stay in this hostal you come here for breakfast, then comeback for lunch and dinner, you won't regret it. |

El hostal es muy limpio y las habitaciones son muy amplias. Esta muy bien comunicado y cerca del centro. Lo unico negativo es que las paredes parecen de papel y se oye cualquier ruido, especialmente las "bajadas de agua" por la noche... El precio esta ajustado al hostal. |

Hicimos la reserva a traves de Barcelona-on-line; antes de nada queria destacar su eficiencia y agradecerles desde estas lineas.
En cuanto al hostal comentar que no esta nada mal. Estuvimos mi novis y yo durante 5 dias en una habitacion doble con bano. Esta situado cerca de las ramblas y del puerto (Portvell).
Asimismo existe una parada del metro muy cerca del hostal. El hostal esta siendo reformado en la actualidad pero este hecho no nos causo problema alguno.
Las habitaciones disponen de bano, calefaccion y TV. El unico pero que se le puede achacar es que alguien tenga la mala suerte de tener vecinos que
ronquen o que haya ninos en alguna de las habitaciones cercanas. Tambien se puede escuchar el ruido exterior pero al tratarse de una calle muy tranquila no tuvimos problemas
en ese sentido. Precio: 6500 ptas + 7% IVA. Creemos que el precio esta de acuerdo con lo que recives. Nosotros volveriamos al mismo sitio sin dudarlo!!! Pasarlo bien en Barcelona, merece la pena!!! |
